Systems and Strategies for Managing Behavior
Register for the 2019 Raising Special Kids Symposium on October 24. Among other speakers, you’ll hear from Laura Wiggins on how exposure to traumatic events and toxic levels of stress can negatively impact a child’s ability to learn, to form positive relationships, and to regulate behavior and emotions in the classroom. She’ll share how trauma-informed school practices are designed to support children who have been negatively impacted by trauma and toxic stress, enabling them to build the resilience that they need to heal from past trauma, to cope with ongoing toxic stress, and to self-regulate. Trauma-informed schools focus on providing a safe and caring learning environment that carefully nurtures the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development of students.
