Daily exposure to oral language provides young children with the opportunities to begin acquiring a basic understanding of the concepts of literacy and its functions. In this two-hour session, participants will actively explore Strand 2 of the AZELS Language and Literacy Standard- Emergent Literacy and the concept of phonological awareness. Participants will learn the importance of phonological awareness in early childhood learning environments and be able to immediately implement activities in their classroom.
