Beyond this study, there is further evidence that children’s language abilities and conceptual knowledge are related to their life experiences. Children’s experiences often are dictated by the family’s SES and parenting practices, which have an impact on the quality and frequency of adult-child conversations in the home (Dickinson, 2011; Farkas & Beron, 2004; Lareau, 2003).
