122 Program Management 2. Physical Facility 1. Facility Management Level 1 Recognize the importance of facility maintenance as required by licensing regulations. PM 2.1.1 Level 2 Implement practices to help maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized facility. Display familiarity with the use of the facility, including accessibility issues specified by the Americans with Disabilities Act. PM 2.1.2 Level 3 Understand facility operation and management. Identify resources available to resolve facility problems such as utility companies, or repair services. PM 2.1.3 Level 4 Develop, plan, select and implement procedures for facility maintenance including budgetary support for preventative maintenance schedules, refurbishment, and enhancement of the physical facility. Ensure the facility design provides safety and accessibility as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Develop, plan, select and implement procedures for systematic monitoring and maintenance of the buildings and grounds. PM 2.1.4 Level 5 Analyze, evaluate, articulate, and apply evidence-based best practice regarding facility management. PM 2.1.5 2. Environment Management Level 1 Recognize the importance of a well-organized, clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing physical environment. PM 2.2.1 Level 2 Implement environmental practices to support children’s safety, interests, learning, and development. Implement learning activities that help children appreciate and contribute to a well-organized, clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing physical environment (e.g., planting gardens, sharing artwork for common spaces, etc.). PM 2.2.2 Level 3 Develop, plan, select and implement methods to engage children, staff, volunteers, and family members in enhancing the physical and learning environment. Encourage the use of environmentally friendly products, energy-saving appliances, and recycling when possible. PM 2.2.3 Level 4 Analyze, evaluate and modify the environment to ensure it: o Is accessible to all o Instills pride and provides beauty o Supports comfort and safety for all members of the community Develop strategies that provide for continuous improvement and enhancement of the environment both inside and outside.
