127 Program Management 4. Risk Management Plan 1. Risk Reduction Level 1 Follow policies and procedures designed to minimize the risk for injury, property loss, or professional liability. Participate in regular risk and injury prevention professional development. PM 4.1.1 Level 2 Understand loss and liability policies. Maintain current and accurate documentation related to risk management. PM 4.1.2 Level 3 Develop, plan, select, and/or create learning activities for children to reinforce the concept of safety and prevention. Assess the environment regularly for potential risks. PM 4.1.3 Level 4 Develop program policies and procedures for risk and injury prevention for children, families, and staff. Ensure policies address various environmental hazards such as asbestos, lead, air pollution, etc. in accordance with regulatory agency requirements. Lead professional development for staff on the prevention of workplace accidents. PM 4.1.4 Level 5 Analyze, evaluate, articulate, and apply evidence-based best practice regarding areas of potential loss and liability. PM 4.1.5 2. Accident Protocol Level 1 Follow directions for reporting work-related injuries to appropriate staff. Recognize the importance of strategies to prevent work-place accidents. PM 4.2.1 Level 2 Identify procedures to follow when accidents occur that involve children, families, or staff. Support strategies to prevent accidents. PM 4.2.2 Level 3 Assess all areas of the program for safety and identify steps to take when an accident occurs including contact information. Assist with reporting when needed. PM 4.2.3 Level 4 Develop and maintain written procedures for preparing for and handling emergencies. Communicate with employees about their rights under the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Develop policies and procedures for response to and reporting of accidents in accordance with government regulations.
