87 Health, Safety, & Nutrition 5. Health Education 1. Basic Health Practices Level 1 Follow program guidelines for training and supporting each child in proper hand washing procedures. Use personal health and safety practices. HSN 5.1.1 Level 2 Understand the importance of aligning health activities to the Arizona Early Learning Standards; Arizona Infant and Toddler Developmental Guidelines; Program Guidelines for High Quality Early Education: Birth through Kindergarten; and/ or Arizona Academic Standards, as appropriate. Identify each child's understanding and practice of basic concepts and behaviors that promote good health. HSN 5.1.2 Level 3 Clearly align activities related to health education to the Arizona Early Learning Standards; Arizona Infant and Toddler Developmental Guidelines; Program Guidelines for High Quality Early Education: Birth through Kindergarten; and/ or Arizona Academic Standards, as appropriate. Develop, plan, and create health activities that promote healthy behaviors, healthy bodies, and healthy environment. HSN 5.1.3 Level 4 Analyze, evaluate and apply current knowledge and best practices on health, safety, and nutrition. Develop policies and procedures related to the application of basic health principles. HSN 5.1.4 Level 5 Analyze, evaluate, articulate, and apply current knowledge, theories, research, and best practices regarding basic health practices. HSN 5.1.5 2. Nutrition Education Level 1 Recognize that mealtime experiences can nurture healthy eating habits. HSN 5.2.1 Level 2 Implement activities that introduce new foods, food preparation, and tasting experiences. Offer opportunities for each child to develop the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy food choices. HSN 5.2.2 Level 3 Develop, plan, and create learning experiences that introduce new foods, food preparation, and tasting experiences, and that promote healthy food choices.
